About Frank

Gijs Andrea became fascinated early on by the question of why organizations work so hard yet achieve so little real progress. That fascination took shape more than 35 years ago, when he first encountered the Theory of Constraints with the introduction of Eliyahu Goldratt’s The Goal in the Netherlands. What began as curiosity grew into a lifelong professional commitment.

Gijs chose not only to study the theory, but above all its practical application. He earned his MSc in TOC Healthcare Management from Nottingham Trent University in the United Kingdom. During this period, he played a leading role in introducing the Theory of Constraints into the Dutch healthcare system, demonstrating that improving flow leads not only to higher productivity, but also to reduced work pressure and more space for professional craftsmanship.

In the years that followed, Gijs worked on numerous TOC implementations in both the Netherlands and the UK. Time and again, the same pattern emerged: when people and processes are logically organized and the true constraint is addressed, results once thought unattainable become possible. Improvements of 20–40 percent in lead time, performance, and reliability are more the rule than the exception.

Gijs describes himself as an organization improver “but for real.” No models for their own sake, but practical improvement by looking closely at how work actually flows. His thinking is inspired by Goldratt, Deming, Ohno, and Ford—less focus on local efficiency, more on coherence and flow. Not working harder, but organizing smarter.

In addition to his work as a founding partner of the Better Results Group, Gijs is a trainer at the TOC Academy Netherlands, where he teaches programs such as TP, CCPM, TA, and DBR, always with the aim of helping people learn to think and act from TOC principles themselves.

He is a speaker, author, FlowMaster, and TOC specialist—and outside of his work, a passionate lover of Italy.
